Oak Island Fishing Charters May Fishing Report

Sorry for the delay but computer has been down and we have been fishing a lot.  The Grouper fishing was the best ive seen in a very long time with every group catching the boats full limit.  The other bottom fish was very easy to catch including blackbass, grunts, snapper ect….. but we prefer to fish for the grouper because of the challenge.  Lots of our trips this May was people with their own boats wanting to learn how to successfully catch grouper instead of catching an accidental one here and there so now they will have some real fun.  Backwater action has been great also with big numbers of Red Drum and Flounder moving in with the warmer then usual water temperature.  Dont miss out on June with the kids half day trips either.  We are only one phone call away and have the boats, captains and knowledge to back it up.

Oak Island Fishing Charters Fishing Report

April was a little warmer this year so the water temps have giving us Mid May results.  In the gulfstream the wahoo bit was good early then faded into the spring Mahi run which should last till June.  On our offshore bottom fishing trips the catches consisted of Big blackbass, Vermilon Snappers, Grey Snappers and trigger fish.  The nearshore trips have finally started providing constant action with Spanish Mackerel and Big Sharks but the King Mackerel and Cobia are also in the same are for the live bait groups.  Backwater fishing has seen good numbers of Black and Red Drum but we expect the Flounder to start biting at anytime.   Its time to go fishing and we have the boats and the knowledge to make it happen so dont wait to long.

Oak Island Fishing Charters Season is now underway

The fishing season will be steadily picking up as the days get longer and the weather pattern settles in.  Capt Travis has been catching Red and Black Drum in the backwater trips over the last couple weeks.  Backwater fishing will continue to improve as the water temperature rises so now is a good time to start planning your trips with Capt Travis.  Capt JD and myself are patiently waiting for the winds to lay down enough so we cant go offshore.  Big Wahoo, King Mackerel and a very large assortment of bottom fish should be expected on our offshore trips.  Mid April the nearshore action will start producing Spanish Mackerel and Big Sharks.

Oak Island Fishing Charters January Fishing Report

December 2016 will go down as the worst weather ive seen in over 20 years.  We had to cancel lots of offshore trips but January 2017 has started off strong.  The King Mackerel fishing has been great on the days we are able to make it out.  Gulfstream fishing has been producing huge Wahoo and lots of them also.  Get your dates in order and start planning for May (Mahi Mahi and Grouper) and Red Drum, Flounder in the backwater.  It will not be long and we will be back on the water daily so we can keep you on the fish.

OCT and Nov Fishing Report at Oak Island NC

Oct and Nov has showed us some of the best fishing of the year.  We have been busy almost fishing every day catch Red Drum, Black Drum, Grouper, Sharks, King Mackerel and Speckled Trout.  The season is coming to an unofficial end because the weather will now take control on the number of days we get to go fishing.  My prediction for the Month of Dec will be lots of King Mackerel, Grouper, Trigger Fish and Monster Wahoo.  So our goal is to show you all of the above before Christmas.  Already getting ready for next year so we can be ready when the time is right.  There is still time if you want to fill the freezer for the winter so lets go fishing.

September Oak Island Fishing Charters Report

The weather was all over the place in Sept with several tropical systems passing over just about every week.  Surprisingly the fishing was really good and gave us high hopes for an awesome fall.  Big Red Drum, Grouper, Snapper and even an early King Mackerel bite on the nearshore trips kept our clients busy.  We can only hope October is half as good and September but time will tell.  We still have a few days open the last couple weeks of October so lets go fishing.

Aug fishing report Oak Island Fishing Charters

Same ol summer pattern set in this year with more windy days then nice days but we still produced.  August sometimes can be a tough month because the water gets a little warm but if you change up the fishing techniques success is right around the corner.  Backwater trips produced good numbers of Flounder and Red Drum.  Nearshore action was still Spanish First thing then Shark fishing the rest of the day.  Once the Mullet show up we change things up a little and catch the big citation sized Spanish Mackerel.  Offshore as always the bottom fish are always hungry and easy to catch.  To make it a little more challenging we target and catch lots of keeper Grouper but always willing to give the by catch a ride back to the house also.  Fall is around the corner so dont miss out on the Big Drum and King Mackerel bit that starts around the end of Sept.  See you soon.

July Fishing Report from Oak Island NC

Sorry for the delay but this month has gone by so fast we about forgot the fishing reports. We have been fishing almost everyday nearshore or backwater. There are still some dates open if you would like to join us for some fun on the water.  Also remember that fall is around the corner and we will start back up our Grouper fishing trips along with King Mackerel and Wahoo.
